What is the Onero™ program?
The Onero™ program, the gold standard for Osteoporosis.
Onero™ is an award-winning, evidence-based program designed to improve bone health and reduce fracture risk. Based on the LIFTMOR study from Griffith University (published in the JBMR), the program uses high-intensity, bone-targeted resistance and impact training.
Fun fact: Onero is Latin for ‘load’ or ‘burden’
Benefits of Onero™
Bone Density
Stimulates new bone development and increases bone density.
Strength
Strengthens muscles to support joints and posture.
Balance
Improves balance and reduces the risk of falls.
Fall Prevention
Helps prevent fractures and maintain independence.
Confidence
Supervised classes with a focus on technique to build confidence.
Community
Small classes (max of 8) and a welcoming community.
Who is it for?
People with low bone mass, osteoporosis, or osteopenia.
Those wanting to reduce fracture risk and improve balance.
Anyone seeking a safe, supervised, research-backed exercise program.
“When it comes to our bones the research tells us not all exercise is equal. In fact, exercise that is targeted, supervised and focuses on resistance and impact training is best.”
Key Features
-

Evidence-based
Developed from the LIFTMOR study, which demonstrated significant improvements in bone density.
-

Targeted approach
Focuses on bone-specific loading to trigger bone remodeling.
-

High-intensity resistance and impact training
Includes exercises that challenge bones and muscles, promoting strength and density.
-

Balance and falls prevention
Exercises are designed to improve balance, reducing the risk of falls and subsequent fractures.
-

Supervised and tailored
Individual assessments and ongoing supervision ensure safety and effectiveness.
-

Long term approach
Regular participation (twice a week) is recommended for optimal results.
-

Individualised programs
The program is tailored to each person's needs and abilities following an initial assessment.
-

Potential for bone density improvement
Studies have shown improvements in bone mineral density in the hip and lumbar spine comparable to those seen with some medications.
